(VUSA) Day 8: California
Today we entered California and I was amazed yet again by the beauty of our country. The quick change from desert to forested mountains interested me. Both the mountains and forest looked so majestic. We did a quick drive through of Yosemite, and we will be returning in a few days.
We also visited Mono Lake, a lake similar to the Great Salt Lake in that it has no outlet. LA has taken so much water from it that it has dropped 45 vertical feet, which has greatly effected the ecosystem. The rock formations you see in the pictures were formed by underwater springs, they became visible when the lake level dropped. They are called tufa.
