(VUSA) Day 10: North Dome, Yosemite
Today my dad and I did a hike of approximately 10 miles up North Dome, a mountain directly across the valley from famous Half Dome. The woods were beautiful, and the up close view of Half Dome was amazing. We met a few different people on our hike, including a friendly couple from San Francisco and a man who flies a kite on the summit of every mountain he climbs. I enjoyed hiking with my dad, and we both enjoyed taking many pictures of the scenery. While we were lunching on the top of the dome, a bird flew overhead and pooped, barely missing us. That was certainly cause for a laugh.
On the drive home, we picked up a hitchhiker; it was the first time I had ever been in a car with a hitchhiker, and I found it sort of weird how you had to quickly make acquaintances with a person and keep up a conversation without any prior knowledge of their background. It was neat, and the guy we picked up was really friendly.
